Marriage - certificate Name: George Thorne, aged 29, Porter Father: Thomas Thorne, Painter. Name: Sarah Ann Parker, aged 21. Father: James Parker, Labourer. Date: 10th Jan 1864 Place: St Leonard's Shoreditch. Address: For both... 7 New Inn Street. Witnesses: James Twiddy & Eliza Louisa Brooks. NOTE: 1861 census there are some parkers living at 1 New Inn St, so seems likely that the wedding certificate is not a 7 but a 1 for address. Connection not proven. NOTE: George seems to have lied about his age on his wedding certificate. Perhaps because Sarah Ann was only 19 at the time and there was quite an age difference. Death - certificate George Thorne, 1872 Saint Olave Southwark, county of Surrey Date: Died 25th February 1872, Guys Hospital. Age: 37 Occupation: Railway ticket collector. Cause of death: Poplitical aneurism, Ligature of Femoral etc. PM certified. Informant: Ez. Clinch, present at the death. Guys Hospital Southwark. Registered: 1st March 1872. NOTE: A popliteal aneurysm is a swelling of the popliteal artery. The popliteal artery extends across the lower third of the thigh and the upper third of the calf. It is situated quite deeply in the leg behind the knee. Surgical treatments aim to exclude the aneurysm from the circulation by tying off (ligating) the artery above and below the aneurysm. Burial record Camberwell Old Cemetery George Frank Thorne - 3rd March 1872 Grave Ref: 37/3446 NOTE: A not so detailed map is available. Contact me for details. I tried to find the grave in 2016 but that side of the cemetery is too overgrown. Very tall nettles. No way in to see the graves around that area.
